Cold shrink cable accessories are manufactured by injection molding liquid silicone rubber in a factory setting, followed by expansion and lining with plastic spiral supports to form various cable accessory components. During on-site installation, these pre-expanded components are slipped onto the prepared cable ends or joints. The internal plastic support strip is then removed, allowing the accessory to tightly shrink onto the cable insulation. As these accessories rely on elastic retraction at room temperature—unlike heat shrink accessories that require flame heating for contraction—they are commonly referred to as cold shrink cable accessories.

Description

For 1kV cold shrink cable accessories, the cable terminals are not classified into indoor or outdoor types due to their low voltage rating. However, 10kV, 20kV, and 35kV cold shrink cable accessories, being high-voltage products, must be distinguished between indoor and outdoor types. Special attention is required during selection, as indoor products cannot be used outdoors.
